The Wonder Phone updates itself through the System Updater app, which comes pre-installed on every model. No computer, no app store, and no outside tools are needed.

How to Check for and Install an Update

  1. Open the System Updater app from the home screen.
  2. The app will check whether a new version is available.
  3. If an update is found, follow the on-screen prompts to download and install it.
  4. The phone will restart to complete the installation.

The current release is v1.6, which includes a fully redesigned System UI, improved button and swipe navigation, Amber Alerts support, a new World Clock section, and a number of stability fixes.

Tips Before You Update

  • Check your data plan. Updates download over your mobile data connection. A large download can use a significant portion of a limited data plan. If you are close to your data limit, connect to Wi-Fi before starting the update to avoid overages or a failed download.
  • Keep the phone charged. It is a good idea to have a reasonable charge before starting — the phone will restart during the process.

If the Update Fails or Uses Up Your Data

If the download fails or you notice your data is low afterward, contact your carrier to check your usage and ask about adding data for the month. Connecting to Wi-Fi for the next attempt will prevent the same issue from recurring.

If the Update Download Won't Finish

If the System Updater shows an update available but the download keeps failing or hanging, clear the Updates app's stored data and try again:

  1. Go to Settings > Apps & Notifications > Updates > Storage & cache.
  2. Tap Clear storage, then tap OK.
  3. Connect to Wi-Fi (or confirm mobile data is on with enough data remaining).
  4. Re-open the System Updater app — the update may take a few minutes to reappear, then download fresh.

Which Apps Are Updated

System updates apply to the entire phone, including all pre-installed apps. The specific apps on your phone depend on your model — for example, Waze and Weather are updated only on L'Maaseh-approved Wonder Phone variants, since the Wonder Star does not include those apps.

Wonder Star and VAAD updates

Wonder Star phones, which are approved by VAAD Hakehilos, receive WonderOS releases on a separate schedule. Every new version of WonderOS must be reviewed and approved by VAAD before it ships to Wonder Star phones, so Wonder Star users normally see a given update slightly later than Wonder Phone users on the L'Maaseh-approved variants. If you're on a Wonder Star and don't yet see the latest stable version in Settings → Updates, that's expected — the update will appear once VAAD approves it.
