The Backup app is a built-in add-on that lets you save and retrieve your contacts, call logs, messages, and notes. It was introduced in v1.5.8.042 and is available on all Wonder Phone variants that carry the relevant data — for example, call logs and contacts are available on every variant, while messages back up only on variants that include messaging.
Where to Find the Backup App
The Backup app is located in the Add-ons section of your Wonder Phone. Navigate to Add-ons from the home screen and select the Backup app to open it.
What the Backup App Covers
The Backup app can back up and restore the following:
- Contacts
- Call logs
- Messages (on Talk+Text variants only — the Wonder Star Talk Only and Wonder Phone Talk & Features do not include messaging)
- Notes
Creating a Backup
Open the Backup app and select the option to create a new backup. The app will save a snapshot of your selected data to the phone's local storage. Because the Wonder Phone has no internet connection or cloud service, the backup file is stored on the device itself (within the phone's 16 GB of built-in storage).
Restoring from a Backup
Open the Backup app and select the restore option. Choose the backup you want to retrieve, and the app will reload your data. This is useful after a factory reset, when switching to a new Wonder Phone, or if data is lost unexpectedly.
Variant Notes
The Backup app is available on all four variants. However, what it can back up depends on which features your variant includes:
- Wonder Phone Talk, Text & Features and Wonder Star Talk & Text: contacts, call logs, messages, and notes.
- Wonder Phone Talk & Features and Wonder Star Talk Only: contacts, call logs, and notes (no messages, as those variants do not include the Messages app).
Transferring a Backup to Another Device
Because backups are stored locally, you can copy the backup file to a computer using the included USB cable (file transfer mode starts automatically on v1.6 and later) and then move it to a new Wonder Phone. Once the file is on the new device, open the Backup app and restore from it. See the Files App article for details on connecting to a computer and moving files.
