The Wonder Phone includes two distinct voice-input features: the Voice app for recording standalone voice notes, and speech-to-text for dictating text while composing a message. Both are available on all Wonder Phone variants.

The Voice App

The Voice app comes pre-installed on every variant — Wonder Phone and Wonder Star alike. Open it from the home screen by tapping the Voice icon, or navigate to it with the D-pad and press the center button.

Use the Voice app to record audio notes you want to save on the phone. Recorded notes are stored locally and accessible directly from the app.

Starting with v1.5.8.042, you can also attach voice notes directly to entries in the Notes (Notepad) app, making it easy to combine written and recorded content in one place.

Speech-to-Text

Speech-to-text lets you dictate instead of type whenever a text field is active — most commonly when composing a message in the Messages app. When you start speaking, the phone transcribes your words in real time.

Key capabilities:

  • Automatically adds punctuation — commas, periods, and question marks are inserted as you speak.
  • Plays a sound when it begins listening, so you know when to start talking (added in v1.5.7).
  • Accuracy was significantly improved in v1.5.6, making transcription substantially more reliable.

In beta now (v1.6.0.022): speech-to-text adds Yiddish dictation, so you can dictate in Yiddish as well as English. This is rolling out to beta testers now and will reach all users in the next stable release — see Joining the Wonder Phone Beta Program.

Speech-to-text is available wherever a text input field appears on the phone.

Variant Notes

  • The Voice app is available on all variants, including both Wonder Star models.
  • Speech-to-text within the Messages app is only relevant on Talk & Text variants (Wonder Phone — Talk, Text & Features and Wonder Star — Talk & Text), since those are the variants that include Messages. See the Messages app article for more detail on composing texts.
