The Wonder Star is approved by VAAD Hakehilos, a rabbinical authority that applies a stricter standard than L'Maaseh. That approval directly determines which features the phone includes — and which it does not.

What VAAD Hakehilos Approval Means for Features

The Wonder Star does not include Waze, Android Auto, or weather. These features are available only on the L'Maaseh-approved Wonder Phone product line. VAAD Hakehilos approval excludes them by standard, not by technical limitation.

The Wonder Star is available in two variants:

  • Wonder Star — Talk & Text ($399.99): calls and SMS/MMS text messaging.
  • Wonder Star — Talk Only ($399.99): voice calls only — no texting.

Both variants include the same core apps found on every Wonder Phone: Call, Voice, Notes, Calendar, Files, Music, Clock, Camera, Photos, Calculator, Zmanim, Feedback, and System Updater.

What No Wonder Phone Includes

Regardless of which approval standard applies, every Wonder Phone model — including both Wonder Star variants — has no internet browser, no email client, and no app store. This applies across the entire product line.

Who Should Choose the Wonder Star

If your community, school, or rabbinic authority requires VAAD Hakehilos approval, the Wonder Star is the appropriate choice. The L'Maaseh-approved Wonder Phone is not a substitute in those contexts, even if you do not personally need Waze or weather.

If VAAD Hakehilos approval is not required, you may also consider the L'Maaseh-approved Wonder Phone variants. For a full side-by-side comparison of all four models, see Wonder Phone vs. Wonder Star: Which Model Is Right for You?

Pricing and Where to Buy

Both Wonder Star variants are priced at $399.99 and are available at wondersimple.com, as well as through authorized dealers in Monsey, Boro Park, Williamsburg, Monroe, Lakewood, and Montreal.

Wonder Star and VAAD updates

Because every WonderOS release must be reviewed and approved by VAAD Hakehilos before it ships to Wonder Star phones, Wonder Star users typically run a slightly older version than Wonder Phone users on the L'Maaseh-approved variants. This isn't a delay or a problem — it's how the VAAD-approved channel works by design. When you don't see the newest version in Settings → Updates on a Wonder Star, the update is still going through VAAD review.
