If your Wonder Phone is lost or stolen, two things need to happen quickly: stop someone else from using your phone service, and figure out how to get a replacement. This article walks through the right order.
Step 1: Contact Your Carrier (Do This First)
Your carrier controls your phone number, your SIM, and your service plan — not Wonder. The first call should be to them. They can:
- Suspend your SIM so calls and texts on your number are blocked.
- Issue a replacement SIM that you can put into a replacement phone with the same number.
- Check for any unauthorized activity on your account.
This is the most time-sensitive step because as long as the SIM is active, anyone holding the phone can make calls or use data on your account.
Step 2: Contact Wonder About a Replacement Phone
Once your service is paused, contact Wonder to talk through replacement options:
- Email: [email protected]
- Call or text: 845-200-2323
- Walk in: 252 Old Nyack Turnpike, Monsey, NY — Sun 12pm–6pm, Mon–Thu 10am–6pm, Fri–Sat Closed
When you reach out, include your name, the phone's serial number if you have it (often on the original box or order confirmation email), and a brief description of what happened.
A lost or stolen phone is not covered by the standard 1-year warranty — the warranty covers hardware defects, not loss or theft. You'll be purchasing a replacement phone at the regular $399.99 price. If you're unsure about your phone's history with Wonder, reach out anyway; the team can pull up your record and discuss options.
Step 3: Restore Your Data (If You Had a Backup)
If you used the Backup app before the phone went missing, and the backup file is saved somewhere off the device — a computer or another Wonder Phone — you can restore your contacts, messages, notes, and other data onto the replacement phone. See the Backup App article for the restore steps.
If you didn't have a backup, the data on the lost phone isn't recoverable. There is no cloud sync on the Wonder Phone — everything was stored on the device itself.
What Can't Be Done Remotely
The Wonder Phone is designed to stay simple and offline, which means a few things you may have seen on other phones aren't available here:
- No remote lock. Wonder cannot lock the phone from afar.
- No remote wipe. There is no way to remotely erase the data on a lost device.
- No "Find My Phone." The Wonder Phone has no online tracking service.
- No remote SIM disable. Only your carrier can disable the SIM.
The protection on a lost Wonder Phone is the PIN that locks the home screen. If you set one up, the person holding the phone can't get past the lock screen without it. The phone has no manufacturer override or backdoor — if your PIN holds, your contacts and content stay protected.
If You Find the Phone Again
If the lost phone turns up after you've contacted your carrier (and possibly bought a replacement):
- Contact your carrier to re-enable the SIM (if they suspended it) or to switch service back to it.
- If you'd already bought a replacement, you can keep both phones, return the replacement under the 14-day return window (see Returns, Refunds, and the Restocking Fee), or sell or give the older one away.
If the phone is locked with a PIN you no longer remember, see Forgot Your PIN or Locked Out of Your Wonder Phone.
Variants
This applies to all four Wonder Phone variants — Wonder Phone (L'Maaseh-approved) and Wonder Star (VAAD Hakehilos-approved) alike. Loss/theft handling is identical across the lineup.
